SEEKING HEALTH:
Finding Balance
The vision of Woape is to support young people, families, adults and communities develop health and happiness through the discovery of hope.
The mission of Woape is to provide community and occupation based teaching using indoor and outdoor classrooms of experiences supporting spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical development and well-being.
Woape was founded as RedWind in 1997, a youth and family service organization. RedWind established a vision in teaching healthy ecology, environmental awareness, individual psychosocial development, conscious decision making, and community service. With ongoing requests from the local community and youth organizations, the Board of Directors engaged in strategic planning resulting in evidence based services in Occupational Therapy and the expansion of the organization into Sandy, Oregon. In 2008, the Board of Directors formally changed the name of Redwind to Woape, which means “Hope” in Lakota.
Woape’s Board of Directors is a committed 100% giving board with diverse experiences and wisdom in youth and family services. The Board is very active in Woape services and offers guidance to the organization’s executive director.
Woape has been successful in helping many youth and families. Individual volunteers, community, foundation support, government programs, and agency collaborations have supported this success. We are thankful to all whom have offered this help. We honor these partnerships established through the years.
