CULTURE:
Down to the Marrow Bone
How important is culture and tradition in our lives? How often do we step outside our circle to find what lies many times just outside our front doors? Many things have come together to shape who we are and how we think. Many things are shaped by not only the things we've experienced but by the things our grandparents and their grandparents have experienced. The cultural mind is a place for some to flee and for some to search. We believe its importance in our lives is key to the continuing life on this planet. Finding a deeper understanding of the our own ancestral stories and traditions and sharing them. The understanding that culture makes us all different, plants seeds of respect and compassion and opens our minds to new ways of seeing our world and its diversities. We believe diversity is directly linked to the health and well being of all. Like a healthy forest needs a diverse eco-system so do we in our day to day lives.
Within each of our bodies we carry codes of the past, the genetic blueprint of where we have been long before our minds can recall; Disease, famine, talent, vocation, diet, environment and on and on. Our body contains a memory, that shapes how we live each day. Finding ways to unravel the mysteries that can lie just beneath the surface or tucked away deep down in our bones. The truth, the genetic hard drive, waiting for the download; our ancestors whispering in our ears.
